Japan was a bust. Nova the Largest Japanese English teaching school went belly up the second week of October and so for a month and a half the Mrs. and myself had to tighten up our belts until our return tickets were usable. Together we lost a grand total of approx. 36 lbs. hooray for walking and reduced healthy diets!!! Don't worry we were a little outta shape and over fed to begin with.
A week before we left for Japan my father began to lose the feeling in his left arm and after a quick doctors visit he was referred to a neurologist who sent him in for an MRI. The day we left for Idaho (to visit some friends before leaving the country) was the day he he went to the doctor to get his results. The MRI showed a lesion on the right temporal lobe of his brain and swelling in the same area which was causing the paralysis of his left arm. His Neurologist then referred him to one in Portland and put him on steroids. so for a week we sat and waited for the doctors appointment me in Idaho, My sister in Washington, and my Parents in Oregon. The paralysis in the meantime went away and when the doctors appointment came another MRI was ordered. Both the lesion and the swelling had greatly decreased in size , so much so that dad was back to normal for the time being. The lesion was so small that it couldn't even be biopsied.
On our way back from Japan we call my parents up to inform them that we are once again in the country only to find out that my father has begun to lose the feeling in his arm again and now his leg is also being affected. More MRI's and a biopsy later the doctors are fairly sure (99.9999% sure) that it is Lymphoma. Shit.
Now he is back on the steroids to reduce the swelling, an anti-seizure medication, a pain reliever, and something to help his stomach because the pain reliever and steroid can both cause serious stomach irritation. his next appointment is on January 3rd to discuss and hopefully begin treatment, so any and all good thoughts are welcome so please send them his way.
I don't know exactly when I'll update I'm just so tired right now. and on top of everything we are in the process of moving my parents to Washington where my mother has just accepted a job offer. This will be My wife and I's sixth big move in as many months.
